The Future of television as we know it ....

For many years now the Television has been a very ,very effective  medium of communication with the masses , sure, the T.v technology has evolved over the years ,with H.D. graphics and sound ,thinner L.C.D. screens and power efficient L.E.D. back lighting , but the content delivery mechanism remains the same.

The problem with the T.v. is that it is a one way communication device , meaning that only one side  , the content creators , have the ability to define what the viewers see , and the viewer has almost no interaction with the content or the creators , while there have been  many attempts to get viewers to  interact via phone calls and sms as such , but it is not possible to manage such a large amount of phone calls individually so it is usually only a few in an enormously large viewer base that can  actually and effectively interact with the show/content  .

The solution that we have seen emerging lately  to this  is the Second screen , essentially it is a  portable device like a smart phone or a tablet connected to the internet and then it has an app that will allow the users to interact with the television content in real time . This could , for example, be used to instantly create nationwide polls , or perhaps a possibility to  rate the show and give feedback to the content creator , which is a very valuable  for the content creator .

Applications are becoming a natural extension of television programming, both live and on demand...

What Wikipedia has to say....
Several studies show a clear tendency of the user to use a device while watching television. They also show a greater frequency of use of tablet or smartphone when watching television, and other studies distinguish a higher percentage of comments or posts on social networks, about the content that's being watched (Nielsen ratings)  As well, Google has published a study where they define some apparent new behaviors on the part of users when consuming content via multiple devices.
On these studies, many companies both in content production and advertising have adapted their formats to the user, trying to get maximum attention and thus profits. Applications are becoming a natural extension of television programming, both live and on demand

What I have to say...

Frankly I believe this is a very good way to improve the content and keep the users engaged to the television and web content , also this will revolutionize the way we watch television , in India T.v is the favorite family pass time , where the entire family comes together to enjoy the content , the ability to of a second screen to create a social experience that is much larger than the one with just your  family but ,in essence ,allows  the entire nation/world to share the views and enjoy the content ....

Sometimes, I am fascinated by the possibilities and opportunities the future holds for us,....
